I originally started The Bowie Traders Network on the UK eBay platform under the working title Hamastuki Lan, a Japanese audio engineer who’s CDs I had collected for quite a few years. As popular as eBay was, in hindsight it was never a wise decision to use an eBay forum which connected Bowie fans around the world largely interested in trading Bowie’s unofficial catalogue, bootlegs or memorabilia in which eBay neither benefited nor could legally tender.

Regularly interrupted and took off line by eBay red tape, but with the group still growing and already boasting several hundred registered members, I took the decision to create a brand new hub for those members, plus anybody else interested in seeking out, trading and exchanging Bowie memorabilia without joining eBay, a web forum or working under the confines of moderation or excessive red tape.

As I was already a long standing user of Hotmail and MSN Messenger not just for the sake of simplicity I have built the hub of The Bowie Traders Network around that system. It’s already a trusted global platform and there are very few bugs! I also noticed that most forums tend to be more like an SMS blackboard…and as my main interest was trading/collecting I really just wanted a simple means for people to communicate what they have or want. BTN provides this perfectly.

So if you have a Hotmail email address you can simply log directly into The Bowie Traders Network and see who else is on-line around the world and freely exchange Bowie Wants and Exchanges as well as any other information you choose with like minded Bowie fans…and connecting with all those people is completely FREE!

If you don’t already have one you can get a Hotmail email address free and then all you need do is install MSN Messenger on your computer to be able to log in live via that email address. You can then see who is on-line or communicate with other Bowie Traders Network members live. Of course as a collector, as well as consenting adult, you can then also freely exchange emails, wants, exchanges, attachments, files and lists etc within the boundaries of the law but without the intervention of Big Brother or any online moderator.

Having registered with BTN at the first available update session you will be sent a list of existing members MSN contact email addresses. All you need to do then is use the Messenger Group function to enable you to add those people to your Messenger Contacts. Details are provided on-line of how to operate and optimize the MSN Messenger system for that purpose.

Bi monthly the Bowie Traders Network Hub, haddonhall@hotmail.co.uk, that’s me, then sends you an email to your registered email address with new members contact details. Simply add these new members to keep your list of Bowie Traders Network contacts current and up to date. BTN is a free service and we take no responsibility for MSN connectivity, interruption to service and we will add new members and remove users from the updates mailing list totally at our discretion. We may also remove users from future BTN updates in the event they abuse the BTN system.

Enjoy trading David Bowie memorabilia freely and without paying commission!
